Kiltaraglen
House lies half a mile north of Portree, Skye's main
centre, on the A855. Set in spacious gardens surrounded by
trees it is an excellent base from which to explore the wonderful
diversity of activities and scenery for which the Isle of
Skye is renowned.
In
1985 Pamela and Kevin Simmister took over the property for
their own home and have renovated the surplus accommodation
into modern, comfortable, secluded self-catering accommodation
and two bed and breakfast rooms.
The main part of the house was built by Dr. Matheson, the
surgeon for Portree from around 1855. During the 1930's a
detached cottage and annexe were added and Kiltaraglen began
providing self catering accommodation in addition to the already
well established board and lodging.
